Fuel Prices<\/h3>\n<h3><em>Prediction: Most predictions are for fuel prices to remain relatively low next year.<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>\u2022 Most economies are slow or slowing.<br \/>\n\u2022 There is a glut of supply and the Middle East doesn\u2019t seem to be slowing production.<br \/>\n\u2022 More fuel efficient vehicles are actually starting to effect demand for gasoline.<br \/>\n\u2022 Natural Gas is a very economical alternative right now due to the new fracking technologies recovering previously unrecoverable resource.<\/p>\n<h4>What could affect this prediction?<\/h4>\n<p>\u2022 A major conflict in the Middle East.<br \/>\n\u2022 OPEC deciding to cut production.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/transcourt.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Fuel-Prices-Transcourt.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1405 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/transcourt.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Fuel-Prices-Transcourt.png\" alt=\"Fuel-Prices-Transcourt\" width=\"600\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/transcourt.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Fuel-Prices-Transcourt.png 600w, https:\/\/transcourt.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Fuel-Prices-Transcourt-300x218.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>2. Labour Shortage<\/h3>\n<h3><em>Prediction: Continued driver shortage<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>This seems like old news, but every year the shortage of truck drivers seems to increase. We can expect more of this next year.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Existing truck drivers are retiring at a faster rate than new entrants.<br \/>\n\u2022 The market for freight is growing and the demand for drivers is growing.<\/p>\n<h4>What could effect this prediction?<\/h4>\n<p>\u2022 A major recession.<br \/>\n\u2022 With the oil boom slowdown, trucking companies may be successful at attracting new drivers from the oil patch labour pool.<br \/>\n\u2022 Trucking companies are heavily marketing jobs to women. Women currently make up only a small fraction of truck drivers. Should female truck drivers become a trend, it could really help out the driver shortage problem.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Capacity<\/h3>\n<h3><em>Prediction: More available capacity in 2016<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>Coming into the end of the year spot market capacity is up (according to DAT Trendlines) and spot market loads are down. This is a key indicator that freight volume is soft right now. From a capacity perspective we should see much more available capacity in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Q3 2015 freight volumes are soft.<br \/>\n\u2022 Trucking companies being proactive about hiring and recruiting.<br \/>\n\u2022 Outlook for economy is soft.<\/p>\n<h4>What could effect this prediction?<\/h4>\n<p>\u2022 New rules or regulations that could tighten capacity.<br \/>\n\u2022 An economic boom.<\/p>\n<h3>4. Traffic Flow<\/h3>\n<h3><em>Prediction: Increased southbound traffic to the US, softer northbound traffic to Canada, less East-West traffic in Canada.<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>\u2022 With the low Canadian Dollar, imports are considerably more expensive. This will drive less import from China and the US.<br \/>\n\u2022 With the low Canadian Dollar, Canadian Exports will be more attractive, particularly in the United States.
