{"id":1356,"date":"2015-11-01T14:38:26","date_gmt":"2015-11-01T19:38:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/transcourt.com\/?p=1356"},"modified":"2025-05-14T13:38:02","modified_gmt":"2025-05-14T17:38:02","slug":"ontario-carriers-should-get-help-for-natural-gas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/transcourt.com\/fr\/2015\/11\/ontario-carriers-should-get-help-for-natural-gas\/","title":{"rendered":"Ontario carriers should get help for natural gas."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article-title-full\">MISSISSAUGA, ON &#8212; Ontario&#8217;s Liberal Minister of Environment and Climate Change Glen Murray announced his government\u2019s commitment to working with the trucking industry to create incentives which promote the use of green technologies in trucks, such as compressed natural gas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-title-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/transcourt.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/CNG.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1357 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/transcourt.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/CNG.jpg\" alt=\"CNG\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/transcourt.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/CNG.jpg 640w, https:\/\/transcourt.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/CNG-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"content clearfix\">\n<div class=\"field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<p>Murray acknowledged that support would be needed for carriers looking to shift to green technologies such as natural gas, electric or hybrid trucks, citing the need to continue to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the battle against climate change, and creating an environment conducive to investment and continued economic growth in Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>The Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) and its membership have said for years that\u00a0tax or rebate incentives are required\u00a0in order to encourage market penetration of green technology such as CNG engines.<\/p>\n<p>Murray stated that creating the necessary infrastructure, and promoting incentives such as accelerated CCA rates, rebates and grants must be incorporated into policy in order to facilitate the use of green technologies and the building of terminal refueling stations in Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>David Bradley, CEO of the Canadian Truck Alliance and the Ontario Trucking Association praised the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNever before in the trucking industry\u2019s history have our member\u2019s economic goals been as aligned with society\u2019s goals in terms of the environment, particularly with greenhouse gas emissions, than today,\u201d he said. \u201cThere are going to be a number of challenges: infrastructure, getting people used to new ideas, pricing, all of those sorts of things. But I think today is really good example of what it\u2019s going to take. It\u2019s going to take partnerships. Our industry is not going to solve our problems, or reduce our carbon footprint on our own. We need to work with our suppliers, whether that\u2019s equipment or fuels, and we need to work with legislatures. This is a challenge worth fighting. And this is a great start today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The station will be open to all fleets and operators of CNG vehicles, \u201cexpanding opportunities for the transportation sector in and around the GTA to go greener using a lower cost fuel, helping to make\u00a0Ontario\u00a0trucking businesses more competitive and sustainable,\u201d said Emmie Leung, CEO and founder, Emterra.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Goyette, president, C.A.T. was also on hand and announced the leasing of 100 CNG trucks to show its commitment to CNG.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re going to start seeing these trucks on the road as early as January,\u201d he said.
