TC/DOT 407 Chemical Trailer

Our industry goes through great lengths to ensure the health and safety of its employees and workers. Even when your employees visit customer and vendor sites, safety should always be paramount. Here are just some examples of the preventative measures Transcourt takes to help ensure the safety of operators, drivers, shippers and anyone else that may encounter our trailers.

Right from the specification stage, we look at new ways and new ideas to keep safety at the forefront.

Air pressure line on Stainless Chemical Tanker Trailer

A good example of this is our implementation of a “Transcourt Spec” which now includes a hard-piped air pressure line from the front curbside fender to the spill dam on TC/DOT407 trailers eliminating the need for operators to physically climb up the ladder to attach pressure hoses in the spill dam.

Fall protection on Chemical Tanker TC/DOT 407

Another example of our commitment to safety is providing fall protection. Even the most careful and well-trained operator has concerns of falling when on top of a tank trailer. Transcourt has made fall protection a standard in the fleet where ever possible giving operators the confidence they need when performing their job at heights using a Transcourt trailer.  When spec’ing a trailer for a customer purchase, we always recommend that fall protection be part of the specs at the design stage.  We are happy to say that it is rare today for companies to order trailers without fall protection, but it does happen occasionally.

Tires also play an important role in regards to safety. How many times have you been travelling on the highway and seen tire debris strewn across the lanes? Not always but chances are, the tire was a re-cap. Tank trailers are designed to carry maximum payloads right from the design stage.  Carrying these loads puts enormous strain on tires and therefore in our fleet, we do not use re-cap tires when tires are replaced. This helps keep fellow motorists safe, keeps roads clear of debris and contributes to less travel downtime and operator risk.

These examples have costs associated with them, but the benefits far outweigh any costs and, in the end, may save money with less injury to workers and risk.  Transcourt puts safety at the forefront and welcomes any and all suggestions from industry professionals with regards to safety and should you have a suggestion please contact our offices, we welcome your input.
